LTE-P-23 AEM Alkaline-oxidative Stability SOP
This SOP describes experimental methods for characterizing the chemical and mechanical stability of anion exchange membranes (AEMs) exposed to oxygen saturated concentrated alkaline aqueous solutions. Chemical stability experiments of AEMs were performed by immersing AEM samples in oxygen saturated alkaline solutions at elevated temperatures (e.g., 1 M KOH or 1 M NaOH at 60°C or 80°C). Diagnostics such as IEC, NMR, FTIR, ionic conductivity, and mechanical testing are used. This SOP was prepared by Chris Arges, Vijay Ramani, Zhonyang Wang, Ryan Ouimet (Pennsylvania State University).
