Water Splitting Technology LTE

Abstract This project will develop thin, low proton resistance membranes for proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer (PEMWE) systems, enabled by gas recombination catalysts for low H2 crossover and radical scavengers for minimal polymer degradation. Gas recombination catalysts and radical scavengers will be integrated into an ePTFE-reinforced thin membrane morphology and optimized for maximum activity with minimum/no dissolution or migration. Advancements will be leveraged on roll-to-roll fabrication technology for a new, commercial membrane specifically engineered to enable renewable energy and H2@Scale via PEMWE.
